The programme is about children getting ready for school while learning and developing as social individuals. The Home Corner and Dressing up covers all the areas of the Early Years Programme: The children get to be expressive and imaginative playing their own games or ones led by an adult, they talk to each other and to adults about their game which helps literacy, speaking and listening, children learn to share and take turns and about other children’s ideas, helping their emotional and social development. They learn about maths via money playing shop and we count using books and count toys and everyday objects.

I use trips out as learning experience so we learn about numbers, cultures, other people, animals and different places, what things are called and more. The children learn about other cultures, traditions and what is similar and different about the child. Dressing up and role playing also helps physical development where they are handling many everyday objects such as in the toy kitchen with confidence and recognition and helps balance and co-ordination moving about the setting.
